The School Department is advertising the position of Chief Marketing and Public Relations Officer.
Qualifications: 1.
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in the area of communications, marketing, public relations or related field2.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in the area of communications, marketing, public relations or other related field3.
Knowledge of ADA / 508 Compliance Law and Regulations inside and out4.
A working knowledge of mass news media and the needs of an urban school district5.
Experience designing marketing collateral (websites, brochures, flyers, forms, booklets, news ads, etc.
)6.
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priority assignments7.
Creativity, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills8.
Knowledge of print production techniques and methods9.
Experience in and knowledge of social media marketing10.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills11.
Knowledge of Social Media: Facebook, X; Instagram and all other forms of social media12.
Proficient in MS Office, Photoshop, Adobe AcrobatResponsibilities: 1.
Train BPS staff on how to submit compliant information for the web2.
Must train web editors and audit their web pages3.
Become proficient with FinalSite content Management System and School Messenger4.
Coverage of school events5.
Develop the eNotify digital communication module for the BPS: parents and staff6.
Continue developing the Commerce module; work with the Director of Instructional Technology to launch additional schools and departments to the module7.
Continually manage the BPS website and Intranets add, update, delete old links and work with the departments on these changes8.
Must be on call for school delays, closures, in addition to posting this information onto the BPS website9.
Develop a detailed, comprehensive public relations plan for the District10.
Act as the public spokesperson for the District to the media and in other forums as assigned11.
Identify and meet the community's need for information related to emergencies and other current issues or events in the District12.
Supervise the production of high-quality brochures and other informational printed materials related to school/community communications13.
Provide other communication services for the District, including writing, editing, and photographic services as requested or assigned14.
Accept responsibilities as a Cabinet member.

Develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated communications and marketing strategy that aligns with and advances the districts vision, mission and strategic priorities16.
Builds on and enhances existing marketing and communication efforts, including the use of the web, social media, print, video, media engagement and public relations messages, in order to support the District in employee recruitment and retention and in deepening alumni and community relations17.
Oversee the daily maintenance of the website; including all postings, news stories, graphics, sports scores, school calendars, newsletters and creating all new pages on the website as needed18.
Create and edit content for web postings, including feature stories promoting students and staff, informational posts about programs and opportunities and oversight of all digital images and videos19.
Work with administrators, teachers and staff in creating new areas on the web: design, layout, content20.
