\*\*\** The NRT currently has a position available for an enthusiastic full time Education Director/ Development Coordinator.
This position involves supervisory duties for the education department and some limited teaching time, as well as work with grants and development for the organization.
NRT’s staff members work in a collaborative atmosphere with other staff who are dedicated to providing excellent individual and community services to diverse audiences using the specific features of the NRT’s 154-acre Sheep Pasture property.
Position responsibilities: *Education Director/ Naturalist (40%)* * Effectively manages education programs as a representative of the Trust on a day-to-day basis.
Assigns staff as needed to meet the educational needs of the Trust.
* Designs, updates, and teaches appropriate educational programs to mixed-age groups, outreach groups, and school aged groups as needed and/or implement new, diverse programming for the Trust as additional teacher when required.
Acts as substitute teacher for NRT programs when needed due to staff absence, etc.
* Assigns staff as needed to facilitate Trust outreach to the larger community, including: traditional media, print advertising, social media, in-person events, and new outreach methods.
Oversees effectiveness, scheduling, and quality of media produced.
* Conducts regular Education Department meetings for education staff to plan upcoming events, programs, and outreach.
Communicates regularly with the Executive Director regarding Education Department needs, plans, budget, and productivity.
* Oversees the operation of SPNC/LY summer programs and camp director(s)/staff.
r, coordinates, and/or implements new summer programs on behalf of the Trust.
* In cooperation with the Executive Director, oversees education staff and assists in assigning duties, including teaching, cleaning, special programs, education animal care, events, etc.

Works with the Executive Director to create and monitor staff learning opportunities and evaluations of education staff annually and as needed.
*Outreach and New Program Development (25%)* * Identifies, develops and maintains connections with organizations, groups, and individuals in order to increase opportunities to schedule NRT programs for existing and new partner organizations throughout area communities.
Meets with stakeholders and other organizations to facilitate new and ongoing relationships and increase NRT program opportunities.
* Meets regularly with the Executive Director to report on the status of projects, programs, staff, etc.
Participates in other committees and groups as necessary to give input toward education and other programming needs of the organization and the community.
* Works with the Executive Director to determine ongoing needs of the Education Department and works to creatively solve potential barriers to increase outreach opportunities for the Trust.
* Uses sound professional judgment and behavior when interacting with all stakeholders, both within the Trust and other organizations, including members of the community.
Represents the Trust positively when interacting with others.
* Tracks program metrics regularly and as needed for special projects, such as grant reporting and other.
* Identifies the programmatic needs of community stakeholders and works with the Executive Director, education staff, and others to find ways that the NRT can meet community needs.
Helps to develop new NRT programs, events, or other opportunities to further the Trust’s outreach goals.
*Grant Writing and Financial Development (35%)* * Identifies, develops and maintains connections with organizations and individuals in order to further grant opportunities for Trust programs and overall operations.
Participates in regular professional development to further understanding of the grant writing process, opportunities for grant/ fundraising development on behalf of the Trust, and improvement in grant processing skills.
* Works with the Executive Director to determine ongoing needs of the Trust and works to find and obtain grants to meet the ongoing needs of the NRT in all areas, including program funding, unrestricted support, capital projects, etc.

* Processes grant applications on behalf of the Trust and completes all required reporting for grants received.
* Works with other organizational staff to plan and implement events and fundraisers throughout the year.

Focuses professional effort on meeting the changeable needs of the organization.
* Works well with other staff members of the Trust to promote the mission of the Trust, allow for effective daily operations of the organization, and communicate important information to other staff members in a positive, professional, and timely manner.
* Demonstrates effective leadership skills which include a commitment to integrity, compassion, and accountability.
* Demonstrates respect for all staff, visitors, and members of the community, regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or disability.
* Is a mentor to others to facilitate professional growth and is a positive representative of the Trust to all external stakeholders.

is required, with a major or concentration in environmental education, education, environmental interpretation, science education, environmental studies, or closely related course of study.
Skills required: * Demonstrable teaching experience and ability to write, evaluate, and update curriculum is required.
At least one year of supervisory/ leadership experience in a similar field is strongly preferred.
In this role, the successful candidate must use professional discretion when working with sensitive data, including personnel and student information, organizational files, and similar information.
* Must be able to lead educational programs in outdoor areas and on unimproved trails in all seasons.
Some lifting to 40 pounds is required in this position.
* Must demonstrate ability to be effective managing varied responsibilities in a leadership role with multiple activities, deadlines, and responsibilities throughout the year.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including positive customer service presentation, are required.
The successful candidate should be comfortable interacting with individuals in many different roles, from parents to other organizational leaders, on behalf of the NRT.
* Experience with non profit fundraising, events, and/or grant writing and reporting strongly preferred.
* Must have a clean Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle, as some limited travel on behalf of the Trust is required.
This position is typically a M-F position, but will require some nights and weekends for classes, meetings, or events.
Public transportation is not accessible for this location; relocation assistance is not provided.
