Founded in 1978, MSC provides loving and lifelong care to over 600 children and adults with disabilities, children affected by HIV, and young mothers in crisis.
In addition, MSC manages sustainable agriculture initiatives and provides education, nutrition, and vocational training to marginalized communities.
MSC is a faith-based organization, inspired by the healing and caring ministry of Jesus Christ.
MSC USA has an annual budget of over $6M and is growing steadily with a committed base of donors throughout the United States.
Over 1,400 volunteers participate in MSC’s mission program each year.
The mission program provides volunteers with the unique opportunity to live and work among MSC residents and staff.
As a result of experiencing the work of MSC firsthand, mission volunteers often become MSC’s biggest supporters and advocates.

*Position Overview:* The Associate Director of Development is a new position, reporting to the Director of Development.
The Associate Director will bring a demonstrated understanding of the fundraising cycle: identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding new and existing donors.
This role will focus on increasing individual giving through gifts of $5,000+ and overseeing a comprehensive stewardship strategy.
In coordination with the Director of Development, the Associate Director will create a planned giving strategy, including the launching of a planned giving society and solicitation of planned gifts.
*Key Responsibilities:* *Portfolio Management: (60%)* ● Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors ($10,000+), with a strong emphasis on qualification and discovery.
● Leverage data from a recent wealth screen to conduct discovery meetings and qualify new major donors.
● Manage a portfolio of donors across the country and strategically utilize both in person and video meetings for qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts of $5,000-$100,000.
● Work strategically with the Director of Development to identify necessary steps and materials to secure major gifts, including case pages, proposals, Executive Trips to Jamaica, and meetings with international leadership.
Track activity within Raiser’s Edge NXT.
*Planned Giving: (25%)* ● In collaboration with the Director of Development, manage the creation and execution of strategy to increase planned giving.
● Oversee the development of branding and messaging of new planned giving society.
● In partnership with the communications team, develop email and mail communications strategy for planned giving that results in maximum impact.
● Make blended asks to solicit donors for both an annual gift and planned gift.
*Stewardship: (15%)* ● In collaboration with the Director of Communications, oversee impact reporting for all major donors.
● Develop and oversee a comprehensive stewardship plan to ensure donors at every level are being thanked appropriately and thoughtfully.
● Prepare personalized letters and messages to thank and engage donors and ensure that donors receive excellent customer service and stewardship.
*Qualifications:* *● *Dedication to MSC’s mission *● *A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in fundraising, peer-to-peer fundraising, stewardship, and communications.
● Direct fundraising experience strongly preferred, including a proven track record of successfully cultivating, closing, and retaining five-figure gifts and up from private individuals and family foundations.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This position requires that the individual be a good listener as well as a compelling communicator.
● Enthusiasm for and openness to learning about planned giving vehicles.
Experience soliciting planned gifts is a plus, but not required.
● Ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Capable of working independently but also able to contribute positively to shared goals.
*● *Experience and expertise utilizing technology for fundraising and communication.
Preferred experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT.
*● *Ability to work and connect with diverse communities, people and partners, and a commitment to promoting inclusion in all practices and efforts *● *Travel and some evenings and weekend work is required.
