This German-made Karl Hauser acoustic guitar is from the early to mid 1960s.
Although not affiliated with Hermann Hauser, this label was likely made by same luthiers using the same materials from and in the same place at the same.
No wonder it is recognized as the world's original and best "Hauser style" style you can get without paying $10-20,000.
The interior label reads “Karl Hauser, Ideal Musical Merchandise Co.
of New York”.
There is a serial number on the back of the headstock.
The craftsmanship is outstanding on this guitar.
The fretboard is made from rosewood.
The headstock wood is likely a light walnut, which is the same through the neck.
The neck has a truss rod.
The tuners are original.
The sound board wood is light and has a matte finish.
The body sides and bottom deck are made from a burled walnut, and the finish on the bottom and sides is a gloss.
The bridge is made from a rosewood or mahogany.
Strings are fed through the back of the bridge via holes, not pegs.
This was likely intended to be a steel-string guitar.
The neck is straight and the frets are in relatively good condition.
The action is on the high side.
The guitar is pleasantly smaller and lighter than ordinary acoustic guitar, making it a joy to play.
It's in good condition or better, having been well cared for by only one professional musician owner its whole life (no kids, animals or neighbors to bang it around).
The finish is very smooth, with minor abrasions here and there.
There is an overall crackling on the surface which is consistent with age and looks like part of the design.
This guitar was just freshly strung and already sounds beautiful, clear, resonant, and warm.
Did I mention the room-filling sound? That's what Hauser guitars are known for, and this guitar does not dissapoint.
Comes with the original crushed velvet hard case, which is only in fair condition but still does the job.
If interested in a video demo, ask and I'll forward one.

About Karl Hauser:
Karl Hauser was a brand name used by the Ideal Musical Merchandise Co.
of New York in the 1960s and 1970s.
They imported acoustic guitars and other instruments from Western Germany.
Famous musicians have publicly testified to their difficulty in telling the difference between Karl Hauser and Herman Hauser guitars.
You will too! Built to last two lifetimes, you'd have to use 60-year-old tone woods and luthiers trained by the original masters to build it's equal, and it would easily cost you 5 times this price.
