In pretty nice shape for a 20 year old instrument.
The MVP was Plek'd by TJ Thompson, so it plays really sweet.
There is some pickup cover wear from a prior owner raising them too high.
Functionally, they are fine.
The bridge is a new Hipshot, like later models used.
The bridge it came to me with was a horrible replacement.
Of course, there's a few cosmetic dings that aren't visible from more than a foot or two.
The color is Arctic Blue.
Mike Pedulla retired in 2019 after making around 10,000 instruments in 45 years.
He closed, rather than bastardize the brand.
So, no more coming along.
I hate to part with this bass, but it never comes out of the case - I have too many.
Cash or Venmo are good.
I can take a charge card with a 4% surcharge.
This is the description from the 2003 website: Based on the unique design that first brought the M.
V.
Pedulla to prominence, the MVP and Buzz basses combine hard-hitting tone with player-friendly ergonomics, making them favorites for the stage and studio alike.
Available in 4-,5-,6-, and 8-string configurations, the MVP is a fretted bass featuring neck-through body construction for superb sustain and tone, plus a sleek ebony fingerboard and a beautifully sculpted flame maple body.
The ergonomic design includes a deep cutaway on the treble side for easy access to all 24 frets, and an extended bass-side horn that provides a perfect balance point when a strap is used.
The MVP's body and neck are likewise balanced to keep the instrument from being neck-heavy.
A three-piece laminated maple neck passes through the entire length of the body, providing maximum stiffness and sustain.
In addition, a double-acting truss rod and two steel stiffening bars in the neck reinforce the neck and maintain stability.
The 24-fret ebony fingerboard is inlaid with 5mm pearl dots, and its hardness resists wear and contributes to the MVP's distinctive tone and sustain.
Standard electronics include a Bartolini TC-4 stereo preamp, with a choice of custom-made Bartolini PJ, JJ, or SB-style pickups.
For maximum flexibility, the controls consist of a master volume, pickup pan, and active presence/passive tone.
Hardware is a specially chosen complement of a bone nut, ABM adjustable machined brass bridge with roller saddles, and Pedulla/Gotoh tuning machines.
A polyester finish protects the MVP from the rigors of performance and travel.
Because of its tremendous toughness, the finish can be applied lightly so that it does not mask or interfere with the MVP's true tone.
The fretless version of the MVP, the Buzz series embodies the essence of what a fretless bass should be:responsive to every nuance, able to translate the most subtle of musical expressions, yet possessing the same authoritative tonal specturm as the MVPs.
(The Buzz series consists of the Buzz, PentaBuzz, HexaBuzz, and OctaBuzz, with 4, 5, 6, and 8 strings, respectively.
) Its polyester-finished fingerboard is glass-smooth, giving the Buzz its distinctive voice and ability to stand up to the demands of fretless performance over the long haul.
Inlaid white markers in the fingerboard guide the player, and are especially helpful to both beginners and seasoned veterans.
All other features of the Buzz are identical to the fretted MVP models.
