JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator the Assistant Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved in the program.
In addition, the Assistant Group Leader will ensure that all areas of responsibilities of the job reflect the mission beliefs of the Old Colony Y.
S/He will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency.
The Assistant Group Leader will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.
.
Assist with implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA'S policies.
.
Assist with daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, Fun/Food Curriculum.
.
Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
.
Assists with Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning and guidelines meet HEPA standards
.
Understands and maintains QRIS standards
.
Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
.
Act as a positive role model.
.
Maintain attendance records and all necessary reports
.
Attend both weekly site staff meetings and monthly asset/school age curriculum meetings.
.
Meet with School Age Site Coordinator as directed.
.
Establish and maintain working relationship with school or other site-specific personnel.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
.
Help ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.
.
Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fund-raising events.
.
Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders and employee expense.
FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure a clean, organized, and safe program space.
.
Communicate to appropriate staff facility issues which need to be addressed in a timely manner.
INTERDIVISIONAL AND COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY:
.
Actively participate on assigned committees and with the Y's Annual Campaign.
.
Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
.
Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
.
Minimum of 16 years of age
.
Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
.
CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
.
Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
.
Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
.
Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.

Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker
