SALMON at Medway is seeking a Resident Engagement Coordinator to ensure quality and SALMON Standards are met in providing a broad spectrum of unique and regularly scheduled recreation programs that address areas of interest of all residents living on the campus.
In line with the SALMON focus of health, wellness and longevity – ensures that engagement teams are well trained, prepared and engage all residents in programming that includes the following domains: cognitive, physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and creative needs.
Responsibilities:
Provides comprehensive recreation assessment and documentation on an initial, quarterly and
annual basis for residents/patient caseload.
Responsible that all recreation state time regulated processes are completed- including but not limited to MDS, RAPS and daily documentation on each resident
Participates in interdisciplinary care planning process.
Facilitates recreation programs that address the physical, cognitive, creative, emotional, spiritual, or social needs of the resident/patient population in individual and group formats.
Ensures each service level has developed and implements a monthly Recreation calendars which are posted/delivered to:
Individual resident apartments and patient rooms
Recreation room/ common areas as designated .
Large calendar posted in each wing’s corridor
Adapt print size as needed per resident request.
Ensures that training is complete with all new staff members and volunteers
Provides supervision of Recreation Assistants and volunteers
Oversees Recreation Department functions
Maintains inventory of recreation supplies and procures additional supplies as needed
Maintains statistical record keeping(Rate of participation, activities trackers)
Guides and coordinates departmental quality improvement in the following areas:
Staff training and education
Program Development
Participates in weekly Department Head meetings, all administrative meetings as required.
Facilitates in coordination with social worker monthly Resident Council meetings according to resident wishes and facility procedure
Other duties as assigned by Administrator
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Prefer college BA/BS degree.
At least two years of relevant experience
Must be in good mental and physical condition and willing to work with residents
Must have an understanding of the holistic recreational needs of the residents
Must have the ability to plan and organize activities geared to needs of all residents
Completion of the facility’s Alzheimer’s Training Course
Must have a working knowledge of the specialized needs of the dementia residents
