QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of five years experience in Special Education
Massachusetts licensure as an Administrator of Special Education and/or Supervisor/Director of Special Education
Experience with out of district placement management
Experience with program development and oversight
Experience as a Team Chairperson, Special Education Building Administrator, or equivalent
Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP process
Experience with the Bureau of Special Education Appeals and Problem Resolution System
Experience writing and/or implementing IEPs
Experience with special education and out of district placement budgeting
Familiarity with formal assessments
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may deem appropriate and acceptable
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees all responsibilities related to out of district placements.
Oversees all Indicators and Problem Resolution System Complaints in collaboration with the Director of Student Services.
Assists with compliance oversight, including IDEA/DESE timeline requirements.
Assists with Special Education and Civil Rights Review Monitoring and Bureau of Special Education Appeals cases.
Assists with grant development, writing, and full oversight of selected grants in collaboration with the Director of Student Services.
Coordinates Proportionate Share Determination and meaningful consultation meetings for Fund Codes 240 and 262.
Assists with Circuit Breaker calculation and submission.
Assists with coordination of all Risk Assessments and psychiatric evaluations.
Supervises, evaluates, coordinates, and facilitates professional development and department meetings for Student Service staff as determined by the Director of Student Services.
Assists with programming, caseload analysis, and tracking of special education teachers, related service providers, and teaching assistants.
Provides budget recommendations for out of district placements, specialized programs, and other budgetary items as determined by the Director of Student Services.
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Superintendent and the Director of Student Services.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
