JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Senior Group Leader is responsible for assisting with programming and supervision of the before and/or after school child care program.
The Senior Group Leader will plan and implement a program of activities which will ensure each child's personal safety while providing entertainment, physical challenges, and learning experiences.
S/He will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency.
The Senior Group Leader will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.
JOB FUNCTION:
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:
-Assist with the program plan, develop, and implement the program curriculum in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Old Colony Y.
-Gear the school age lesson plans to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural diversity, and individual style and pace of learning.
-Provide leadership of daily activities, including but not limited to, gym and arts/craft activities.
-Assist with plan and implement special activities.
-Assist with meeting with parents to conduct new intakes or discuss progress as needed.
-Supervision of the program's children in all program locations, trips, etc.
-Assist the Site Coordinator with the following:
*Maintaining children's files *Developing the monthly newsletter
*Organizing field trips *Developing and implementing age-appropriate activity plans
-Complete necessary documentation, including accident reports, incident reports, attendance records, and forward a copy of these report to the program administrator.
-Act as a positive role model for program youth.
-Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Behavior Management Policy, and the Child Care Manual.
-Assist in serving snacks and meals as necessary.
-Maintain attendance records and all necessary reports.
-Meet with Site Coordinator as directed.
-Attend weekly staff meetings.
-Assist with Bureau of Nutrition reports where applicable.
-Establish and maintain working relationship with school or other site-specific personnel.
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:
-Assist with weekly staff meetings with school age staff.
-Attend mandatory training sessions and all staff meetings.
-Assist with in the supervising, training, and evaluating of school age staff and volunteers.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.
-Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders and employee expense.
-Adhere to all fiscal policies as outlined by the Association, assist with maintaining timely collection of payments, overdue balances and appropriate safekeeping of funds.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Minimum of 18 years of age.

with 9 months experience with school age children, or High School diploma or equivalent and one year working with school age.
-Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid.
-Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
-Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
-Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
