Job Summary
The Lead Accountant position offers many challenges and opportunities in a fast paced environment for a leading Health Care Organization.
Primary responsibilities are the monthly financial closing process, and preparation of internal and external financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing
Lead the monthly financial close process by compiling and summarizing information from a variety of sources both internal and external to the department for one or more legal entities and/or products.
Conduct variances analysis on results to ensure integrity of data presented.

Responsible for the review and maintenance of detailed analysis of balance sheet accounts and reconciliation to the general ledger on a monthly basis.

Responsible for the preparation and processing of journal entries to the Oracle General Ledger system.
Review and interface monthly payroll summary activity to the General Ledger.
(10%)
Review and approve journal entries of 1 Senior and 1 Staff Accountant.
(10%)
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations of 1 Senior and 1 Staff Accountant using Blackline.
(10%)
Participate in preparation of quarterly statutory filings and audited financial statements.
(10%)
Assist in the maintenance of a strong internal control environment including participation in the Model Audit Rule documentation and testing.
(10%)
Prepare monthly and annual settlements for certain products as required (5%)
Responsible for all phases of the annual audit.
(5%)
Assist in budget preparation.
(5%)
Other special projects as required.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting plus four years of experience.
CPA or master’s degree preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
Statutory accounting and reporting experience a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, especially Excel.
Experience using ERP and reconciliation software, Oracle and Blackline a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish collaborative working relationships at all levels of the company and with external auditors.
Ability to meet deadlines and operate in a fast paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Overtime will be required at certain times during the year primarily during the year end audit in January and February.
