Duxbury Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified administrator to serve as the Science Curriculum Supervisor, Grades 6-12 for the 2024-2025 School Year.
Curriculum supervisors are responsible for
Leadership in curriculum development, student-centered instruction, and assessment,
The daily management of the 6-12 Science Department.
The evaluation of assigned departmental teachers.
Working cooperatively with teachers, building administrators, other Curriculum Supervisors, and the Assistant Superintendent to assure professional best practices.
Curriculum Supervisors report to the Assistant Superintendent while working collaboratively with building Principals.
Current certification from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Supervisor/Director - Science is required
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assists the Principal in the educational, curricular, and instructional leadership of the assigned department;
Fosters the development of a positive, respectful school climate within a department;
Coordinates the development and assessment of curriculum;
Evaluates student performance on state and local assessments;
Collaborates with teachers within a department to assist them in nurturing student achievement;
Assists the Principal in the supervision and evaluation of professional staff and holding them accountable for instruction and development of departmental curriculum;
Assists the Principal in the recruitment, hiring, and scheduling of professional staff;
Assists in the administration of MCAS or Benchmark testing;
Serves as a member of standing committees as needed;
Communicates instructional programs to parents and the community;
Makes written reports to the Principal, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent as requested;
Coordinates student-centered learning programs related to assigned department;
Assists the Principal in planning regular meetings of the faculty and staff, and other work groups within the school, and presides over such meetings when assigned by the Assistant Superintendent;
Teaches a .
2 FTE;
Assists the Principal in the development of the departmental budget and schedule;
Oversees the ordering and maintains the necessary level of supplies to support teachers in the instructional program;
Meets with students and parents;
Participates in personal professional development;
Assists with building-based professional development activities;
Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent
Curriculum Supervisors shall work the school year, excluding school vacations and holidays.
In addition, the employee will work five (5) days before and after the school year, plus an additional fifteen (15) days during the summer months.
Curriculum Supervisors will receive a salary regionally competitive and commensurate with experience.
