com/mrf8az2p*_ Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervisor of Speech and Language Pathology to join our dynamic healthcare team.
As a Supervisor of Speech and Language Pathology, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and treating patients with communication, swallowing, and cognitive-linguistic disorders.
The selected candidate will lead a team of skilled professionals, providing clinical and administrative oversight, while contributing to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Your expertise will directly impact the well-being of our child and adolescent patient population.
Please note: this is a 40 hour a week position on first shift, 8:00am - 4:30pm, working alternating weekends.
_*Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):*_ · Lead a team of speech and language pathology professionals, providing clinical and administrative supervision in alignment with departmental guidelines and clinical standards.
· Evaluate and treat patients with communication, cognitive, and oral motor disorders, utilizing appropriate assessment methods.
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, attend patient meetings, and maintain comprehensive documentation to support patient care plans.
· Develop and revise treatment programs tailored to the developmental and cognitive needs of patients across various age groups.
· Participate in facility-wide committees, contributing to initiatives that enhance patient quality of life and organizational performance.
· Support operational needs, including necessary resources and equipment, while adhering to budgetary considerations.
· Recruit, interview, and recommend hiring of new speech and language pathology staff as required.
· Provide training to staff as needed in collaboration with the Leader of Education and Training.
· Stay updated on advancements in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) techniques, evaluation tools, and interventions.
· Complete clinical and billing documentation accurately, adhering to departmental and hospital policies.
· Participate in performance improvement (PI) projects and data collection activities, contributing to Joint Commission readiness.
· Ensure a well-organized physical space for the department, following Environment of Care and Infection Control policies.
_*Required Qualifications:*_ · Proven leadership abilities with experience in providing clinical supervision and guidance.
· Skilled in delivering training or instruction.
· Proficient in theories, principles, and practices of communication therapy.
· Demonstrated familiarity with various equipment used in providing communication therapy services.
· Strong grasp of standard medical terminology, symbols, and abbreviations as applied to speech/language pathology.
· Proficient in treatment techniques and methods utilized in speech/language pathology.
· Familiarity with the techniques and methods of diagnostic and prognostic testing in speech/language pathology.
· Capable in the calibration and adjustment techniques for equipment used in speech/language therapy provision.
_*Preferred Qualifications:*_ · Advanced certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
· Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a speech and language pathology department or related healthcare setting.
· Expertise in conducting Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and collaborating with swallow specialists.
· Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and proficiency in maintaining accurate patient documentation.
· Knowledge of relevant coding and billing practices in speech and language pathology services.
· Experience in collaborating with adaptive design and assistive technology teams to address communication and swallowing equipment needs.
· Proven history of conducting in-service training and educational sessions for staff, caregivers, and educational personnel.
· Demonstrated ability to lead performance improvement initiatives and drive positive outcomes within a clinical setting.
· Strong written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Teams and Word.
_*About Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC):*_ Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) located in Canton, MA is a Joint Commission Accredited, 90+ bed pediatric hospital predominately serving children and young adults (ages 7–22) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The mission of PRHC is to provide medical, rehabilitative, educational, recreational, habilitative, transitional, and complementary alternative medical services to children and young adults with multiple disabilities, assisting them to achieve their optimal level of independence in all aspects of life.
PRHC offers coordinated medical care and therapies in a hospital-based environment, as well as, K-12 schooling, located on the grounds.
Educational Services are provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
In addition, PRHC offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, horseback riding, adaptive sports, and many opportunities for socialization for disabled children and young adults.

*Qualifications - External* *First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
* Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least three years, after licensure, of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional experience in speech-language pathology/therapy in a recognized public or private agency or organization of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Massachusetts' Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
