The Aquatic and Program Director is responsible to ensure all participants are provided with activities which promote the social, cultural, educational, physical, and leadership potential of every members.
Under the Aquatic and Program Director’s supervision, all aquatic and program facilities will be clean and staffed by certified employees who reflect and support the Mission of the Old Colony Y.
He/she will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and regulating agency.
The Aquatic and Program Director will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.
*PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Serve as a liaison between parents, staff and other administrative personnel.
· Effectively program the pool facilities and overall program department to ensure maximum usage and revenue goals are met.
* Oversight of YMCA programming that adds value for membership offerings.
· Prepare marketing information ensuring maximum promotion of the OCY.
· Supervise pool area, program areas, locker rooms and swimmers at all times.
· Ensure that staff members are informing participants about program and pool procedures and enforcing all posted rules.
· Supervise aquatic and family events and encourage staff and members to participate in all Old Colony YMCA programs, services and events.
· Oversee the standardization of student testing for swimming levels and progressions of branch programming · Maintain and oversee the filing of records for all participants and staff.
· Report all incidents/accidents on proper forms and submit to supervisor.
· Develop program adaptations and progressions to support program growth and realization of Association Signature Program Potential · Coordinate and facilitate pool usage with all program departments.
· Work with Easton Public School System to deliver the WaterWise water safety program to all district second graders.
* Work with community partners to maximize revenue and meet community needs.
· Suggest ways to provide increased value for family membership · Teach swim classes as needed as well as Lifeguard as needed.
*SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:* · Recruit, hire, train and evaluate aquatic and program staff.
· Recruit, train and provide leadership for volunteers.
· Role modeling for staff: Wear staff uniform and whistle at all times (while guarding) and ensure staff members do so as well*.
* · Assign and post staff schedules ensuring adequate coverage of the pool at all times.
· Ensure that all certifications and in-service training requirements are up to date for all staff and documentation is properly filed.
*FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such as program registration, purchase orders and employee expenses.
· Keep accurate attendance records and class records, checking with membership service before entering new names to rosters.
· Participate in the Annual Campaign by running at least one fundraising event in the aquatic department.
· Develop annual budget as it pertains to branch programming and safety.
· Manage program budget to meet or exceed the budgeted numbers.
· Promote, recruit and maintain memberships.
*FACILITY RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Properly test water for chemical balance and record at assigned times (inform maintenance staff of chemical level problems).
· Check all safety equipment, reporting any problems in writing to supervisor.
· Properly open and close pool as scheduled.
· Ensure security and safety of pool area, never leaving area unattended or unlocked, check all doors and windows.
· Ensure cleanliness of pool areas daily, hosing deck, brushing down walls, cleaning staff office, putting equipment away in storage closet neatly, inspecting pool area and reporting all problems in writing to supervisor.
Assign various jobs to staff and post.
· Provide leadership to the greater branch, serving as a Cause Driven Leader on Duty when necessary, including scheduled nights and weekends *COMMITTEE AND COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Participate in annual campaign · Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
*INTERDIVISIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Attend Aquatic Affinity meetings · Instruct a minimum of 2 Ellis Lifeguard Training classes in the fiscal year.
*EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* * Red Cross or Ellis Lifeguard Certification * WSI certification within 1 year of hire * Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience * Fundraising experience preferred * Must be physically able to teach aquatic lessons Job Type: Full-time Pay: $45,000.
