General Responsibilities
Assigned a student caseload, the Career Counselor works with undergraduates and alumni to assess interests, understand abilities, and identify a professional path that results in a cooperative education assignment or career outcome post-graduation.
This individual also delivers career development workshops to students on resume-writing, networking, interviewing skills and others.
Another key responsibility includes the maintenance of legacy employer relationships and development of new partnerships with organizations related to our programs in Engineering, Emergency Management, International Maritime Business and Marine Science Safety and Environmental Protection.
Working closely with faculty and those in the disciplinary field, the successful candidate will stay abreast of changing industry trends and follow-up on connections generated by Academy staff.
The successful candidate will engage with employers through site-visits, and participate in trade shows and conferences.
Duties also include assistance with the Academy’s biannual Career Fair and participation in campus-wide events, such as Open Houses, Advisory Councils, and Commencement.
Qualifications and Requirements
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or other related degree fields; Master’s Degree Preferred;
Have a minimum of three years of experience in career planning/employment, human resources, or relevant professional work experience;
Exhibit excellent oral and written communications skills;
Have proficient computer skills; and
Understand the unique mission of the university as a maritime academy.

Salary
$60,000 to $62,000 The Academy offers generous benefits policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This position is exempt under the FLSA.
