TITLE: ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALQUALIFICATIONS: 1.
A Master's degree or higher from an accredited college orinstitution.
2.
A valid Massachusetts License as an elementary schoolprincipal or proof of eligibility for said license.
4.
A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as aclassroom teacher.
5.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both writtenand verbal.
6.
A proven ability to positively motivate staff, students andparents.
7.
Must possess a sense of humor.
8.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the SchoolDepartment may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsSUPERVISES: All personnel serving in the assigned school.
JOB GOAL: To create a school climate so that all students and staff canactively participate in the pursuit of excellence in education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to): 1.
Serves as the chief administrative officer of the school in the day-to-day operationof the building program.
2.
Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate at the school with anemphasis on student and teacher performance.
3.
Promotes instructional practices responsive to student needs and ensuresadequate and appropriate instructional support for students and staff.
4.
Leads the recruiting, screening, employment, assigning and training of new staffmembers and assists in their development, as appropriate.
5.
Assesses all material needs of the school and its programs and preparesappropriate budgetary requests.
6.
Administers the school's budget.
7.
Supervises and evaluates the instructional staff and Assistant Principal in theperformance of their duties and makes recommendations for improvement whenrequired.
8.
Administers the school in accordance with all collective bargaining agreements,School Committee policies, administrative rules/regulations and all applicableState and Federal statutes/regulations.
9.
Provides leadership in the implementation of all curricula within the school.
10.
Chairs the Special Education Team Evaluation meetings and supervises thespecial education programs at the school.
11.
Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groupsand individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall schoolobjectives and programs.
12.
Consults with all relevant program managers, including the Director of SpecialEducation, to plan, implement, and appropriately supervise programs within thebuilding to enhance individual student education and development.
13.
Works with various members of the Administration on District-Wide issues such astransportation, special services, etc.
14.
Implements a Curriculum Accommodation Plan to meet the needs of diverselearners in the general education program.
15.
Performs such other related tasks and assumes such other related responsibilitiesas may from time to time be assigned by immediate supervisors.
