The Senior Financial Aid Counselor will be primarily tasked with the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid which includes determining financial need, performing federal verification, awarding, and clearing students for disbursement.
The incumbent is also responsible for providing quality customer service at MCC's new one-stop enrollment center and representing the Financial Aid Office at recruitment events throughout the year.
The incumbent will also be tasked with establishing FAFSA completion initiatives and financial aid outreach efforts with the possibility of supervising one part-time financial aid counselor who will support FAFSA completion and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Establish and facilitate FAFSA completion opportunities at Massasoit and the college community with a focus on financial aid outreach.
Possibility of supervising a part-time or full-time staff member who will support FAFSA completion and outreach initiatives.
Act as liaison to Loan Default Prevention Management service.
Assist with the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs.
Award and adjust financial aid in accordance with federal regulations and institutional policy.
Provide accurate and confidential financial aid counseling and guidance to current students, prospective students and parents both in person and virtually.
Participate in new student orientations, open houses, financial aid nights, and other related events both on-campus, off-campus, and virtually.
Requires occasional public speaking.
Provide quality customer service at Massasoit's one-stop enrollment center, Student Central.
Review federal tax transcripts and other confidential financial documents to determine financial need and eligibility for federal, state, and institutional programs.
Perform federal verification, resolve conflicting information, exercise professional judgment and review appeals.
Assist with the administration of the non-participation policy and aid adjustments.
Work actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork.
Review students' Satisfactory Academic Progress and perform degree audits in accordance with federal regulations and institutional policy.
Provide flexible, responsive and high quality service to students, community, and staff, while maintaining high degree of confidentiality.
Assist in developing and editing web content, brochures and office forms and letters.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, Accounting, Human Services, or related field; with two (2) years' experience and/or training on the professional level involving financial aid operations and program administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of Title IV and Massachusetts Department of Higher Education regulations.
Must have strong customer service skills and be able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and responsibilities in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, while maintaining composure and discretion.
Willing to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
Ability and willingness to work at other Massasoit campuses/instructional sites.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a community college.
Knowledge of Banner system or similar student information system.

Position Status: Full-time benefitted Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) union position of Senior Financial Aid Counselor.

Hours: 37.
5 hours per week, Monday - Friday; overtime required during enrollment periods and recruitment events.
Salary: $57,249 - $65,849 annually based upon education and experience.
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
