This position teaches a possible caseload of Music Appreciation, Choir, Concert Band, and Musical Theory.
POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience in a performance based content area; through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: PRIMARY is a LOVE of teaching and learning, believing every child can learn, be collaborative, bring joy and kindness to school each day.

Responsible for planning curriculum.

Responsible for delivering high quality instruction and feedback and grading to students.
3.
Responsible for collaborating with special education teachers to differentiate curriculum and instruction.
4.
Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.
5.
Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
6.
Responsible for mentoring students understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.
7.
Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment.
8.
Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
9.
Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
10.
Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.
11.
Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, and\or English language learners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
BA Degree - in music related field2.
Teaching experience in the area of MusicPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
BA Degree - in Music: Instrumental/General/Vocal2.
SEI endorsement3.
Certification in Massachusetts DESE license in Music: Instrumental/General/Vocal4.
Experience in general music theory, music history, how to read music, how to sing, and organizing and conducting choral and musical groups.

Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years).
Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employment.
REPORTS TO: School PrincipalSALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators Association contract.
Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
