Guidance Counselor for Reengagement Center & Brockton Virtual Learning Academy (BVLA).
To provide out-of-school youth and students who are off track to graduate with a supportive environment and personalized plan to obtain a diploma and to support post-graduation college and career opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate MA DESE Certification as a Guidance Counselor.
Masters Degree, or higher, from an accredited institution in School Guidance, or related field.
At least five years of successful experience in working with at-risk youth and/or virtual learning.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyze data to identify youth who are out-of-school and youth who are under-credited and disengaged from school.
Conduct active outreach to encourage out-of-school youth and struggling learners to return to and engage in school.
Increase student engagement and agency in their education through implementation and monitoring of MyCAP program.
Coordinate with Brockton High CTE guidance counselor to provide students with career focused exploratory classes and industry credentials.
Coordinate with Brockton High School Early College Guidance counselor to provide students with opportunities to enroll in Early College courses.
Work with Center for Restorative Justice/Success Academy staff and community partners to design personalized graduation and post-secondary plans for high needs students.
Monitor academic and attendance data and work with parents and Success Academy staff to design and implement appropriate interventions.
Monitor Credit Recovery and online course progress.
Work with educators and staff to prepare students for enrollment in a traditional school, as appropriate.
Assist with ACCESS and MCAS testing.
Complete Restorative Justice training: plan and participate in Restorative Justice activities with students and staff.
Attend and provide input at all appropriate IEP and Section 504 meetings.
Assist with other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools, or designee.
