New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach.
Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school.
You will join a committed, creative team of educators who provide academic and social-emotional support to young people coming from high-need backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready.
We support our staff with a wide array of professional development opportunities and coaching.
As a teacher or staff member, you will have the opportunity to join in the development and fine tuning of our curriculum, school policies, and enrichment activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Counsel students to create an individualized plan to achieve their academic and career goals.
Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to discuss children's progress, and resolve academic, social/emotional, and post-secondary concerns to determine students priorities.
Engage with students to help them understand how their academic, personal, or post-secondary matters affect their educational or vocational outcomes.
Meet with students regarding school-based affairs such as truancy, study habits, career planning, course and program selection, class scheduling and registration, school adjustment, and more.
Build and manage student schedules on PowerSchool, in collaboration with administrators, Student Services, and Early College teams.
Collaborate with staff to prepare all necessary documents to prepare for a students transition out of NHCSB.
This could be letters of recommendation, college applications, apprenticeship registration, ASVAB/SAT exams, and more.
Work with students in the classroom, small group, or individual settings to develop skills, such as active listening, time management, and self-advocacy.
Design student-facing, family-facing, and staff-facing materials to support the mission and vision of the school Host educational and training workshops for families and staff Schedule, facilitate, and draft 504 plans in collaboration with appropriate staff members, parent/guardian, and student whenever its applicable Use school data to inform practice and target students needs Collaborate with Academic Counselors to build department materials Other duties as assigned by the Lead Academic Counselor or school designee Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrate sound judgment reflecting honesty, fairness, and trustworthiness while appropriately maintaining students confidentiality Understanding of the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Framework that ensures every student receives a high-quality educational experience Understanding of the MASCA counseling principles, techniques, and theories to support adolescents with their academic, social/emotional, and post-secondary matters Knowledge of technology platforms such as Common App, Google Education, Naviance, Microsoft Office, and PowerSchool Ability to manage student files with care to have documents such as MCAS scores, sending school report cards and/or transcripts, 504 plans (if applicable) Ability to convey information effectively to all stakeholders based on standards and expectations from professional organizations such as the American School Counselor Association, Massachusetts School Counselor Association, and other experts in child and adolescent development
