Summary:
At PEC we are looking for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to be a subject matter expert for Direct Generation Solar Projects in the New England and New York markets.
We are looking for a self-starter who is an expert in the standards and practices of electrical engineering for solar development and can work with both internal and external partners to design, review, and provide guidance on electrical engineering issues.
Further, we are looking for a subject matter expert who can assist in the preparation of design standards, procedures, and contract review to ensure that our construction team and clients the highest quality product meeting all their standards as well as those set by utilities, local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
Review of development packages provided by clients for design issues, value engineering opportunities, and coordination of requirements.
Review of client design standards and contract documents associated with the electrical engineering and construction of projects.
Working with the accounts team to formulate RFIs to clients on their design standards, development packages, and utility coordination.
Assists in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering design and documentation standards.
Provides technical guidance to others regarding the electrical engineering portion of solar electrical engineering and construction.
Oversee the preparation by internal or external sources of a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple projects.
Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
Prepare/review complex engineering calculations and drawings following standard methods and principles.
Act as the electrical engineer of record on select projects where required.
Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on complex projects
Review contract documents to ensure that the client requested scope is achievable and provide guidance to the contracts team on required scope and potential issues.
Provide assistance with closeout documentation such as record production modeling and capacity testing.
Work with the prefabrication team to provide guidance on design and construction of their system components.
Perform job related tasks as requested or as assigned by supervisor or upper management.

Minimum Skills:
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards for grid connected distributed generation and NESC.
Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analyses.
Extensive experience with solar interconnection coordination with utilities in New England and New York markets
Experience with capacity testing, record modeling, and closeout documentation on solar projects
Experience mentoring and providing guidance to internal junior engineers or third-party engineering firms to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Understanding of engineering best practices for construction
CAD and/or BIM proficiency is a plus
Education:
Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years Electrical Engineering related work experience, with at least 3 of these in DG/BESS solar development.
Electrical PE License REQUIRED
